Each year our church supports Heifer International by purchasing at least one water buffalo.
Heifer's proven approach is to help people obtain a sustainable source of food and income. This simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief. Over 25 million families in 125 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope. As people share their animals’ offspring with others, along with their knowledge, resources and skills, an expanding network of hope, dignity and self-reliance is created that reaches around the globe.
For nearly 30 years, Operation Classroom’s primary mission has been “To Partner with the United Methodist Church in Liberia and Sierra Leone to Improve Education.” And the need is just a great today as it was 30 years ago.
Their vision is to engage in doing God’s work through this ministry and to see lives changed in both West Africa and in Indiana. Vocations will be inspired not just on the African continent, but on the North American continent as well. And leadership will be empowered in churches on both sides of the pond.
UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development agency of the United Methodist Church. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters. UMCOR always works with partners, usually in local settings. Civic organizations, faith communities, school leaders and other local resources are great assets to sustainable recovery and development, particularly after massive traumatic events. They exist close to the beneficiary and will continue to serve as positive influences in the community after UMCOR's work is complete.
UMCOR is a good steward of our gifts and grants. Private donors can designate their gifts to our programs with the assurance that 100 percent is spent on the programs.
