The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our UMW President, Elsie, would love to have you join the women of the North Manchester UMC as we fellowship together.
OPEN TO ANY WOMAN. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BELONG TO OUR CHURCH TO JOIN
Membership is for those women who wish to organize for mission through giving, prayer, study, action and service. Meetings include opportunities for worship, fellowship and programs that encourage women to grow in their faith and understanding of the world.
United Methodist Women (UMW) meet in small groups called circles. At the present time there are three circles: Evening Circle, Faith Circle and Ruth Circle. There are also women who belong as Members at Large.
In addition to the circle meetings, other meetings are held throughout the year:
Our members are avid readers and participate in the UMW Reading Program which offers the opportunity to deepen spiritually and to broaden understanding of mission.. Information is available and our church library is well stocked with books and magazines on the reading list.
The Evening Circle meets the third Monday evening at 7:00 PM. at the church. The purpose of the Evening Circle is to fellowship and share about God's Love in our lives. This circle has a mission of prayer for others and supports missions within and outside the walls of our church. Different members present a program and each meetings has a hostess.
You will hear that at our annual bingo party held at Timbercrest Retirement Community each February. UMW ladies and their guests are invited to win extremely valuable prizes. These prizes range from the ever appreciated box of Kleenex to who knows what. We also provide food for one of the Fellowship of Churches community meals, deliver flowers to shut-ins, and have a Christmas soup and dessert supper.
The Faith Circle lives up to their name, as they study and fellowship on the first Tuesday of each month. They meet at 1:30 PM, in the second floor activities room at The Inn at Peabody 's. UMW members take turns providing the lesson or program for these charming, interesting and inquisitive women.
"We're a wonderful group," one member said. The Ruth Circle meets at 1:30 PM, on the first Thursday of every month. They meet at Timbercrest in the C Lounge.
Ruth Circle's main goal is to give an opportunity for any woman who prefers an afternoon circle. They encourage members to be responsible for the lessons. This circle extends beyond the walls of the room where they meet with a card ministry for those needing encouragement, sympathy, get well wishes or just "we miss ya."
