UMW Activities

Apple Dumplings

What do you get when you combine apples, flour and rolling pins? Apple Dumplings! What do you do with 1,000 apple dumplings? The United Methodist Women sell them in order to fulfill our financial commitment to missions.

Church Women United

Eastern, Orthodox, Protestant, Roman Catholic and other Christian women join together to express the ecumenical dimensions of their faith and work in Church Women United. They celebrate World Day of Prayer, May Friendship Day and World Community Day. Locally Church Women United participates in a jail ministry for women at the Wabash County jail and other service projects.

Funeral Dinners

A mission of the North Manchester UMW is to provide a place for family and friends to gather, share memories and be served a meal. The United Methodist Women coordinate, cook and serve these meals.

Henderson Settlement

In 2011, Elsie said, “Let’s take a mission trip.” Off to Henderson Settlement the UMW went and they have returned every fall since. To assist in the mission of Henderson Settlement, we are collecting Campbell soup labels and other needed supplies. You can call the church office and we will contact you with details of current needs and dates of the next trip.

MISSION u, formerly known as the School of Christian Mission, is the primary mission education event for the Indiana Annual Conference and is planned and implemented by UMW of Indiana.  In addition to the adult programming for ages 17 and up, there are two components:

  • ChiMiCa - for ages 3 through 5th grade completed
  • YoPeMiCa - for middle and high school aged youth

The Youth and children's studies parallel the adult studies to create an inter-generational program.  Studies are always Biblically-grounded, promote spiritual growth, educate and challenge participants to become more actively engaged in mission.

Prayer Shawl & Blanket Ministry

Prayer shawls or blankets are given to individuals when a warm hug or prayers are needed. These give encouragement and serve as a reminder that God Loves Them. And so do we!!!  Like to knit or sew?  This is the ministry for you.

Reading Program

The Reading Program offers an excellent opportunity to deepen spiritually and to broaden understanding of missions. The list includes a variety of books related to the four mission emphasis of our PURPOSE statement and offers many interesting and exciting choices. Most of the books are available in our church library.
